Concepts to help reduce the difference between ideals and reality

Success seems a common goal, but chances are it has eluded you more than once. I have pulled together several phrases and tactics that might convince you that success need not evade you forever.

I have had numerous small-scale successes in the personal or habit change area, but if I were to name the top reason that brought about success, it would be perseverance. Why? Because failure is so common in any long-term race, there are pitfalls, setbacks, and mistakes. Decisions leading to straight linear progress are a myth.

Continuous Effort Trumps Failure

With all these hazards, progress demands perseverance. To persevere is to continue steadfastly in a course’s direction, especially in the face of difficulty. To be steadfast in pursuing an aim is needed, yet it is rare.

Some failures will occur. But these need not put a dent in your willingness to persevere. Keep your head down and keep moving forward. It’s an error to think failure is a permanent state.

In my sales and marketing days, I once called on a corporate account 32 times over two years before finally getting to yes.
